AGCS performs the clearing process on a monthly basis. For this purpose, the grid operator transmits all measured values for grid transfers, the consumption volumes of all suppliers operating in its grid, and storage and production volumes per storage and production pool to AGCS. The balance group representatives report the forecast consumption of the end customers assigned to them by transmitting the end customer schedule to the MVGM. The end customer schedule is transmitted to AGCS by AGGM on the following day. AGCS thus has the database for the market area East for the settlement of imbalance energy.

In order to ensure security of supply in the system even in the event of inaccurate consumption forecasts by balance group representatives, the MVGM has access to the procurement of physical balancing energy via the CEGH within-day market and via the market for physical balancing energy (Merit Order List) organised by AGCS.
AGCS provides an online platform for registered providers to submit offers for physical balancing energy.
Balancing energy prices are determined daily based on the method specified in the GMMO-VO Regulation.

Once the imbalance energy volumes per market participant and clearing period and the clearing prices have been determined, invoices and credit notes are issued to all market participants (BGR, grid operators, provider of physical balancing energy) active in the market area East.

Costs and revenues incurred in the context of balancing energy procurement are charged to market participants during the clearing process.

Technical clearing

Determining imbalance energy is one of the main taks of AGCS.

This involves calculating the imbalance energy for each balance group in the market area for each hour (in the middle of the month following the settlement month), with the schedules and measured values being transmitted to AGCS by balance group representatives, suppliers, and grid operators via an internet-based system. Market participants can use the online system to view the schedules they have submitted and the balancing energy quantities they have generated, as well as to submit offers for physical balancing energy for the upcoming days. Precise monitoring and effective control of the clearing process is carried out by AGCS clearing staff.

General and further information regarding participation in the gas market in the market area East can be found under Rules & regulations. If you have any questions, you can also contact one of our staff members directly.

Financial clearing

On behalf of AGCS, OeKB calculates the monthly imbalance energy receivables and liabilities based on the quantity and price data provided, and also calculates and settles the clearing fees.

OeKB is also responsible for payment processing, dunning and risk management.

The clearing platform provided also allows you to view your invoices and check your collateral deposits.

If you have any questions regarding your invoices, please contact OeKB's energy clearing department.
